Your First Event? Here’s What to Know Before You Launch

Ava CookTips & Tricks

Creating your first event can feel exciting and a little overwhelming. Whether you’re organizing a charity run, a vendor market, or a live music night, getting it right from the beginning makes all the difference. Here’s a simple roadmap to set you up for success:

1. Set a Clear Goal
What do you want to achieve? Ticket sales, community awareness, new customer leads? Your goal shapes everything, from the type of event to how you promote it.

2. Know Your Audience
Tailor your event to the interests, habits, and availability of the people you’re trying to reach. Hosting a wellness event? Early mornings may work best. A family fun day? Aim for weekends.

3. Budget Wisely
Factor in all costs, venue, permits, equipment, marketing, staffing, and contingency. Start small if needed; a well-run small event is better than an overstretched flop.

4. Promote Early and Often
The earlier you start marketing, the better. Post on social, print flyers, email your list, and be sure to add your event to Vero Vine to get in front of thousands of locals.

5. Prepare for the Unexpected
Weather changes, last-minute vendor dropouts, and technical issues happen. Have backup plans ready.
