James Cooke is a permanent resident at John’s Island, Vero Beach, Florida. Over the last 30
years he pioneered and led Leadership and Strategic Business Coaching in the UK and
Europe. He is The Speaker in Residence at JI where he is a regular speaker on geo politics,
geo economics and the arts.
After a successful 15 years with the UK’s major consultancy – PA – he became the National
Partner for Binder Hamlyn, then one of the big 8 accounting firms and then subsequently
the CEO of London’s leading firm of psychologists – GHN
His experiences with these three companies led to his creating a new form of one to one
individualised coaching that launched his career in the late 80’s in the UK, EU and New York.
He has worked for a wide range of businesses. At a Governmental level he advised one E.U.
Administration and three UK Administrations, in particular underpinning Mrs Thatcher’s
transformation of the country by creating and then directing the Youth Employment and
Training Programmes and the Inner City strategies that helped revive the economy.
James has served one other Government appointment as the Business Head of the Arts
Council of Great Britain – budget c £400m p.a.
He married his beautiful American wife 25 years ago and after living in London, they moved
to Florida full time in 2010. His first book – “Understanding Leaders” – has just been
published and he has started his business successfully here in Florida.
James was educated at St Johns College, Oxford University, M.A.; and at the London
Graduate School of Business Studies, London University, M.Sc. His psychology training was
with King’s College, London University and London City University. He is 72 years old and
just manages a handicap of 11!
