5 Event Flyer Mistakes That Are Costing You Attendees

You’ve put time and energy into creating your event — don’t let a bad flyer ruin it. A poorly designed flyer can confuse people, kill excitement, and hurt turnout.

Here are the top mistakes we see (and how to fix them):

1. No Date or Time in the Header

People should know the “what, when, and where” within the first glance. If your event’s date and time are hidden or in small print, chances are people will miss them completely. Use bold fonts and place the information at the top.

2. Too Much Text

Your flyer isn’t a blog post. If it looks crowded or hard to read, people won’t bother. Keep the copy short and punchy. Use bullets and big headings to help people skim.

3. No Clear Call-to-Action

Every flyer should tell viewers what to do next. Should they scan a QR code? Visit a link? RSVP? Buy tickets? Make that action bold, bright, and easy to follow.

4. Overloaded with Logos

We get it — you have sponsors and partners. But if your flyer looks like a NASCAR hood, it’s a problem. Focus on the main message first. You can always thank sponsors elsewhere.

5. Wrong Format for Social Sharing

Design your flyer for how it will be shared. Instagram prefers squares. Facebook banners should be horizontal. Stories need a tall format. If your flyer isn’t optimized, it might not even get posted.

Bottom Line: Your flyer is the handshake before your event. Make it count. Simple, clean, and clear wins every time.
